Bangalore International
Centre had arranged an interface with:
Dr. Marti G Subrahmanyam, Professor of Finance and Economics,
Stern School of Business, New York; and
Prof. Marc Luychx Ghisi, Dean, Cotrugli Business Academy, Zagreb,
Croatia
On Thursday, the 24th January, 2008.
Dr Subrahmanyam talked on “The Alphabet Soup of the Sub-Prime
Crisis” and Prof. Ghisi talked on “Will India enter
the new global conversation of the paradigm shift?”
Dr. Subrahmanyam skillfully piloted the audience through the
labyrinth of modern money market and explained how and why precisely
the system, in the absence of governmental intervention and
a strong regulatory mechanism, is leading to blood-baths in
the market. He argued strongly to have a strong and strict regulatory
mechanism to control and regulate the market so as to protect
the small investors particularly.
Prof. Ghisi, in a mellow but powerful speech, urged for a paradigm
shift to inject spiritual values in the secularized market economy
and felt that India and China could play a significant role
in this respect.
The interactive session which followed the talks was provocative
and lively.
Prof. Samuel Paul of Public Affairs Centre presided over the
session.
The power point presentations of both the speakers are attached
herewith. |
