Progrmme by Mr. Sikkil Gurucharan (Intoxicated Eyes) at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall in the evening on 11th October, 2008. - An Airtel-Manthan Arts & Culture Series Programme

The Bangalore International Centre (BIC) had organised a unique dance programme viz., “Madirakshi : Intoxicating Eyes” an evening of contemporary classical music by Sikkil Gurucharan and Anil Srinivasan, on 11 th October, 2008 at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.

In an enchanting, uninterrupted spell, Sikkil Gurucharan sang pieces composed by Subramania Bharati, Jayadeva, Kalki Krishnamurthi, Upundurpettain Shanmugasundaram, Kshetrayya, Meera Bai, Sadashiva Brahmendra and Eraiyaman Thampi. He was given admirable support by Anil Srinivasan (Piano) and J S Purushotham who played the kanjeera. The overall impact was a stunning fusion of classical music of east and west at their very best. The standing ovation which all of them got from the enraptured audience was adequate testimony to the unique melody they had provided that evening. The hall was packed to capacity.
