Bangalore International Centre had organized a Talk by Prof. Roger Martin, Dean & Professor of Integrative Thinking, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto on “How Successful Leaders Win Through Integrative Thinking” on 12th November, , 2008 at 6.45 PM at its Auditorium. Dr. S K Chaturvedi, Professor of Psychiatry, NIMHANS presided over the session.

In an illuminating talk, illustrated with slides, Prof. Martin focused on the problem-solving power of what he termed as “integrative thinking”. He drew on the success stories from his latest book “The Opposable Mind” to demonstrate the ability of the human brain to hold two conflicting ideas “in constructive tension” through which decision-makers can synthesize new and superior ideas. He suggested that everybody can take advantage of this new insight and learn a vital leadership skill. It was a fascinating talk, moderated with admirable skill by Prof. S K Chaturvedi whose insightful comments and asides were much appreciated by the packed audience.
