Bangalore International Centre had arranged an interesting and innovative event viz., “Tibetan Music Festival” by Student for a Free Tibet, on Saturday, 18th June, 2011 at 5:30 pm.
Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) is an NGO which works in solidarity with the Tibetan people in their struggle for freedom and independence from the Government of China. They are a chapter-based network of young people and activists around the world. Though education, grassroots organizing, and non-violent direct action, they campaign for Tibetan’s fundamental right to political freedom.
The students group presented the rich culture of Tibet with their traditional dances and songs. They also presented Tibetan solo songs with varieties of Tibetan music instruments like Tibetan guitar etc. The students were beautifully dressed in their traditional colourful attires.
The performance was followed by a short screening of the film “The Sun Behind the Clouds” which is based on Dalai Lama’s struggle for justice and recognition for the Tibet people.
The BIC members and the general public who came to be a part of the traditional culture of Tibet were enthralled by the performance of these young and talented students.
