The City of Bangalore has always
had a unique personality, which in recent years has been
enriched further through a deepening of its knowledge
base and the entry of several sunshine industries. There
is many a forum in the city where the cultural elite,
the intellectual community, and the leaders of public
opinion come together on the basis of some specific affinity.
However, there is no single institution in Bangalore that
provides an opportunity and a platform for interaction
across professions that would collectively foster intellectual
activity, cultural enterprise and innovation in development,
representative of what Bangalore stands for.
Viewing the success of the India International Centre
(IIC) and India Habitat Centre (IHC)
in Delhi, it is evident that Bangalore deserves a similar
institution. The Bangalore International Centre is being
developed as a hub of cultural and intellectual activities
in the city, which also reaches out to the world at large
to assimilate global influences. The Centre has been formally
registered and will bring together the who's who of Bangalore’s
intelligentsia, corporate world, and cultural milieu.
Governing Council
The Governing Council
of the Bangalore International Centre consists of a group
of mature, intellectually alert and culturally sensitive individuals
who are well-known.
